Since my last entry, we got to the show (The Producers) without too many problems - the tube in London at the time still had a number of lines either not in operation, or partially working. We enjoyed the show, and the fact we had box tickets given to us made it even better! However, if you’re ever in the theatre district of London, do not go to the Indian Restaurant opposite Theatre Royal, on Drury Lane! We had a curry there, and it wasn’t that good. In our photo section we have a couple of photos from the evening - Elliott, a friend from uni, was playing drums in the band that evening. We made a trip to Glasgow on Wednesday - it was my first time to Scotland. We were following some potential employment leads, and it looks like we’ll be making another trip there next week, as well as to Sheffield. The overnight bus coming back was a killer, so I think we’ll make that a day trip next time! Currently there is a Piping Festival in Glasgow, so every where you walked in the city centre you would hear bagpipes being played! It’s my birthday coming up on the 27th, and it looks like we will be in Scotland that weekend. We have also now put together our Wedding Photo Album! We were given an album as a present, which we have used to put 72 photos into it from the Wedding & Reception in England, and the 2nd Reception in Australia. The Australian Spouse Visa application is still being worked on, and I hope to be able to submit my application in early September. |

We are now back in Reading, after returning from Australia and then a few days after flying to Spain for the honeymoon. There was better weather on offer in Spain than we had in Australia - sunny and warm most of the time after a slow start to the week. We fitted in a visit to Gibraltar and had one of the apes that live on the Rock of Gibraltar climb over both of our heads! Being in Spain also gave us time away from both the UK and Australia to think and decide for sure where we hope to live for the next period of time (however long that might be). We decided that we will make a home in the UK to begin with (pending Dawn’s spouse visa application). Currently Dawn is waiting for her new passport (updated to show her new last name) before the visa application is made. Part of the decision of living in the UK also includes a move away from Reading at some point during the next 6 months - we hope to use the remaining time in Reading to save up before renting a place in England. We will, for now at least, keep the house in Brisbane and continue to rent it out. I’m now looking for work, and during this time before Dawn can do the same she is practising her painting. |

My parents have been to and gone from Australia now! They left earlier today, flying to Singapore on their way back to the UK. Dawn & I head back to the UK next week, and a few days later fly to Spain for the official honeymoon. After the 2nd reception we spent a few days on the “Sunshine” Coast - it rained most of the time but it was a good time. Then we drove from north of Brisbane down to Sydney (or rather, I did all the driving). We stopped at a couple of places - Ballina and Port Macquarie on this 1000+ km drive. The first couple of nights were spent in Glebe - an area I spent quite a bit of time in about 5-6 years ago while on a working holiday, and now we’re staying with Dawn’s sister further out of the city. We’re enjoying our time in Sydney, and for me it’s good to be back here after 5 years! We are currently considering me applying for an Australian spouse visa and coming to live here next year, quite a bit earlier than we originally intended. It’s a long process requiring a lot of things. We’ve also not decided where to live in Australia if I get granted a visa (and we decide to go for this), though it will be likely to be either New South Wales or Victoria. |

It’s a week now since Dawn & I got married. We left the UK on Monday, and arrived in Australia early Wednesday morning. It’s much warmer here than at home!! Feels like a summer day, and it could get warmer next week although it should be autumn and heading into winter here.. Things are going well, Dawn has officially changed her name though it seems to take a while for the Registry place to actually do it. Most of the places so far have accepted her name change with just the marriage certificate which has been a surprise, as the information we got before we came over was that they would need an official document from the Registry place which will be another 2 weeks before we get it. Dawn has been showing me a couple of places in the Brisbane area, and my parents arrive on Tuesday night in time for the 2nd reception on Saturday 7 May. |
